iMessage and facetime activation requires after every restart

Hi,

I updated my iphone 6+ with ios10 update and since after that everytime I restart my device i need to re-activate my mobile number for iMessage and facetime and causing me to pay for carrier charges for activation SMS.

To confirm I am not changing any sim or anything just a simple restart and i need to re-verify my number everytime with SMS activation.

Hey pulkitgupta23,

I understand that you are seeing an issue with your iPhone and iOS 10 where you are required to re-activate your phone number for iMessage and FaceTime every time you restart your iPhone. We want to help you get to the bottom of this and resolve this issue, so let's start with some basic steps. I have some suggestions for you from the following article that may help us address this properly:

If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support

Check your device settings

  1. Make sure that you’re connected to a cellular data or Wi-Fi network. If you're using an iPhone, you'll need SMS messaging to activate your phone number with iMessage and FaceTime. Depending on your carrier, you might be charged for this SMS.
  2. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure that you've set up your time zone correctly.

Turn off and restart iMessage and FaceTime

  1. Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
  2. Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
  3. Restart your device.
  4. Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.

Try following these procedures exactly as written, and let us know the results. If the issue is still not resolved, try to provide as much detail as possible in your follow up message, including information about the first time you noticed the issue and the source of your internet connection when the issue appears. Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities with your questions!

All.... I got the solution...

The solution though appears to be weird, but it worked for me.

The problem analysis:

I upgraded my phone to ios 10 with face time activated and sim inserted in it, the information data related to sim ID seems to get corrupted with the upgrade and hence every time I restart it tries to activate and activate as well but not able to save the activation information.

Solution:

I tried another sim card and that worked in without the problem, hence i asked my operator to replace my Sim card and since the sim will come with new sim id the problem resolved for me.

Regards

Pulkit
